November Events

If you haven't seen our new November Calendar of Events at our front desk, here are some of the highlights:
Nov 4: Dr. Pierce from the Ontario County Historical Society stops in to discuss how the local community was affected by World War I.  Dr. Pierce is an engaging and knowledgeable speaker, and he will educate and entertain you.
Nov 9: with the holidays approaching, our tech expert Andrew gives you pointers on what type of tech gadget to buy.  Learn what's popular and what may be best for the "giftee".
Nov 17 will be an informational night on upcoming weekly painting classes.  These aren't the popular "Painting with a Twist" type class, but rather full blown art classes.  You will paint a picture based on the weekly lesson given by local resident Nils Caspersson and take it home with you.  Each week you learn a new technique and use it to create a new piece of art which you again take home.  Classes will run for 8 weeks.  For more information, stop in to the library or call us at 924-2637.

As a reminder, you can view and sign up for all our classes at our Calendar of Events.

Music All Around

We had a wonderful time Saturday October 17 at our first ever "Music All Around" event, held in the library.  The building was transformed into a party-like atmosphere.  Around 40 guests showed up after the library closed from 6-9pm, and five different musical acts performed throughout the library at various locations to the delight of all.  Delicious hors-d'oeuvres, desserts and wine and other non-alcoholic beverages were served as well.  A special thank you to the following:

The Barrel Room for selecting and serving the best wines
The Board of Trustees for their continued support
The various musicians for making beautiful music
Our director, Elly Dawson, for her tireless efforts to make this event happen

If you wished you had attended, never fear!  We're looking forward to hosting the next one!  Next year it will be even bigger and better.  Keep your eyes and ears opened!

New Classes and Seminars

It's been way too long since we've updated this page!

We have some exciting classes and events in October for you.  On the 7th we tried to hold a star gazing event with Hank Baronsky from the Rochester Astronomy Club.  Hank showed up along with numerous people anxious to check out the stars.  Unfortunately, the clouds and the rain also showed up.  We will try to reschedule in the very near future.  Check back often to see when.  On the 14th, we are kicking off our new series of history classes called "History in Your Backyard".  Harvey Limbeck, local resident and Ganondagan docent, stops in to discuss the Iroquois Confederacy and the culture and history within it.  Seats are filling fast so reserve your spot ASAP.  There are many other cool classes and events coming up.  If you're in the library, grab an Events Calendar at the front desk or if you're in front of your computer, click on the Calendar of Events link from the main library page.  We have a full load of events through the end of the year.

Check back here often.  Hopefully I'll remember to update it on a regular basis!
